Background
Each year in Poland, nearly 800 blood cancer patients wait for a bone marrow transplant. The wait for a genetic match consumes both mind and body – patients are dying with each passing day. DKMS needed a campaign to raise awareness of the role of donors and encourage registration.
Idea
A reference to the world of dating apps and the search for a "match" – a significant other who makes life possible. A narrative centered around waiting allows you to empathize with the recipient. The message: you can end someone's wait for a match.
Execution
A commercial featuring 18-year-old Gabrysia, a real-life DKMS patient – in the film, her life revolves around checking her phone, waiting for news of a match – a donor. Directed by Tomasz Knittel. A 360° campaign photoshoot: TV, digital, outdoor in major cities, and social media. Actual donors are also featured, including actor Marek Kaliszuk.
